PREAMBLE

The global quest for legal and its related education (paralegal) was thought to be high before now, but times have changed; and one can posit that the awareness and campaign for our rights is said to be quite poor.

Clearly, non accordance to the rule of law has been the bane of our society giving rise to the constant molestation seen on daily activities, insecurity prevalent in the land, to mention but a few. On the other hand, applications of this legal knowledge and its matching skills which are derived thereto have enhanced the awareness of the rule of law and its practice amongst the citizenry of the developed world.

We in Africa, nay, Nigeria, cannot continually sit on the fence watching the other races of the world live in affluence as a result of the adherence to the rule of law and upholding the tenets of democracy.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, having observed the on-going drama, introduced paralegal studies through the former Ministry of Education;  headed by Dr. Sam Egwu.

The paralegal studies aim at provision of support services to the lawyer for the smooth operation of the office. It assists in the management of cases as well as research, preparation of legal documents and documentation.

The paralegal studies will further enhance the advocacy of human rights as many people will be aware of their rights as spelt out in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 constitution). Lastly, it will enhance the Attorney-client relationship in the country.
